Interview with Kasey Pipes, Keynoter at Southwest District PRSA Conference

Posted by Dan Keeney

I participated in the joint conference organized by the PRSA Southwest District and Texas Public Relations
Association on Friday and Saturday. It featured a great lineup of presenters and topics (I’m not just saying that because I was among them!), including Peter Shankman of HARO fame.

The keynote for Friday’s luncheon was Kasey Pipes, author of “Ike’s Final Battle, The Road to
Little Rock and the Challenge of Equality,” presenting, “A Whole New World: How Political Communication is Changing
and What it Means for the Future.” He caught my attention when he likened the Obama campaign’s use of social media tools to Eisenhower’s use of television during the 1952 presidential campaign.

I grabbed Kasey before he left and asked a few questions about that.
